The European Union's multi-year project, the Framework Programmes for Research (FPR) represent the European Union's core instrument for promoting research. They offer researchers from universities and other research institutions, from industry and from the public sector the opportunity to become involved in promoting excellent research initiatives in competition-based processes. This mainly concerns transnational and cross-sector joint projects.
The 9th EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation – Horizon Europe – will fund research and innovation with a €95.5 billion budget (current price) from 2021 to 2027. This includes €5.4 billion from NextGenerationEU.
