"We were deeply shocked and saddened by the attack at Charles University in Prague. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the families and friends of the people who lost their lives. Our thoughts are also with the many people who were injured yesterday and whose families and friends are now fearing for their lives and health.
Universities are places of openness, people coming together and peaceful community. For teachers, students and staff, they are places that are associated with curiosity, inspiration, trust and friendship as a workplace and living space. In this respect, this terrible act shakes the university to its very core. We stand in mourning and solidarity with all students and staff of the university as well as our partners in the Czech university world."
