Abstract This article aims to map the landscape of teaching and learning excellence prizes across higher education and research institutions in Europe, to evaluate their impact on the recognition and assurance of the quality in higher education and to identify the most successful models of teaching and learning. The research supported this article was developed by the University of Porto (Portugal) and European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) as part of the European Forum for Enhanced Collaboration in Teaching (EFFECT) project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
