Abstract The Bologna Process produced policies that aimed at reducing the study duration, also in Germany's 16 federal states (Beutner & Pechuel, 2017). The students' success rates of three comparison groups are presented in this article. The groups are Germans with a German university entrance cert, foreign citizens with a German university entrance cert, and foreigners with a foreign university entrance cert (internationals). Our synchronised variable, which uses the ten-semester Diplom and six-semester bachelor, shows that the 'internationals' present better success rates than the German students in the synchronised variable but weaker results if the bachelor is isolated.
