Abstract The paper sets out the developing vision of a unified credit and qualification framework, within the context of devolution in Wales. It outlines the current agenda of the National Assembly for Wales in terms of education and training and describes the effects in relation to credit developments of the newly emerging structures for education and training provision. The potential role for the credit-based framework in facilitating flexible learning provision through underpinning administration of learning as well as curriculum developments is discussed. In addition, a brief history of credit development in Wales since the early ?90s is provided and a description of how this has laid the foundations for the current Credit and Qualification Framework for Wales Project.
