Abstract This chapter outlines the way neoliberal policies that directly concern university education operate through everyday academic life. It is built on a comparative ethnographic inquiry in two Mediterranean countries, Morocco and Turkey. Besides the structural effects of neoliberalization on campuses, our account mainly explores the way academics experience this process. Thus, the first part offers a discussion on the neoliberalization of higher education in both countries before we introduce the academics’ accounts of this process, alongside our preliminary observations on the field. In the last part, we interrogate the implications of these accounts for understanding the way neoliberalism, as both a structural and an experiential phenomenon, operates across cultures and socio-political contexts.(HRK / Abstract übernommen)
