In the context of the DIES-programme, the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) organised a fact finding information tour to Germany for Jordanian university presidents.
This three-day-visit included meetings with German organisations of higher education like the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), a meeting with representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and discussions at the Cologne University of Applied sciences and the University of Gießen.
Part of the programme was a DIES-seminar on “Internationalisation of German and Jordanian Universities” which was also attended by representatives of other German universities. The discussion focused on issues of quality assurance and cooperation with industry. It was agreed to further strengthen the exchange of information between Jordan and Germany on programmes of funding and institutional training.
In addition, it has been planned to organise a workshop on “Stakeholder Involvement in Higher Education” in 2014.
