The Universidad de Guadalajara (Mexico) is one of the five strategic partner universities of Bielefeld University. By establishing two liaison offices, one in Guadalajara and one in Bielefeld, Bielefeld University is taking a pioneering role in academic cooperation with Latin America and creating a direct horizontal link to the Universidad de Guadalajara. The liaison offices reflect deep institutional ties and build on long-standing research collaborations and exchange programmes. These range from the Center for InterAmerican Studies and the Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences (CALAS) to the International Study and Training Partnership (ISAP) of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Erasmus+ for two-way student and faculty exchanges.
