Prof Dr Anja Steinbeck, Rector of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, will remain spokesperson of the Universities Member Group in the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) and in this capacity also Vice-President of the HRK. A legal scholar, she was elected for a third term of office today in Berlin in the elections to the spokespersons' board of the Member Group. Prof Dr Volker Epping, President of Leibniz University Hannover, was once again confirmed in office as deputy spokesperson of the Group.
Prof Dr Katharina Riedel, Rector of the University of Greifswald, and Prof Dr Hauke Heekeren, President of the University of Hamburg, will be members of the extended spokespersons' board in future. Prof Dr Birgitt Riegraf, President of Paderborn University, and Prof Dr Günter Ziegler, President of Freie Universität Berlin, did not stand for re-election.
By virtue of the HRK's rules of procedure, the spokesperson of the Member Group sits on the HRK Executive Board. The two-year terms of office of the members of the spokespersons' board commence on 1 December of each election year.
