Seven vice-presidents of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) were newly elected or re-elected today by the HRK General Assembly for two-year terms starting on 1 December 2021. According to HRK Rules of Procedure, the terms of office of all vice-presidents expire at the end of November following a presidential election. These elections were due after the re-election of President Professor Dr Peter-André Alt in April.
Two positions were added to the Executive Board due to the amendment to the Rules of Procedure in June 2021. Together with the president and the spokesperson of the member groups universities and universities of applied sciences, it will have ten members in future.
The following people were newly elected to the Executive Board:
Professor Dr Susanne Rode-Breymann, Professor of Historical Musicology with a focus on Gender Studies and President of the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, as HRK Vice-President with a focus on cooperation and diversity within the university system, and interests of colleges of the arts,
Professor Dr Walter Rosenthal, Pharmacologist and President of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, as HRK Vice-President with a focus on research, academic career paths and transfer, and
Professor Dr Ulrike Tippe, mathematician and President of Wildau University of Applied Sciences, as HRK Vice-President with a focus on digitalisation and academic continuing education.
The following Executive Board members were confirmed:
Professor Oliver Günther, Ph D, business informatics specialist and President of the University of Potsdam, as HRK Vice-President with a focus on governance, teaching and learning,
Professor Dr Kerstin Krieglstein, neuroscientist and pharmacologist, Rector of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, as HRK Vice-President with a focus on university medicine and health sciences,
Professor Dr Bernd Scholz-Reiter, Rector of the University of Bremen, as HRK Vice-President with a focus on international affairs and
Professor Dr Dorit Schumann, economist and President of Trier University of Applied Sciences, as HRK Vice-President with a focus on transfer, sustainability, gender equality and diversity.
The General Assembly also extended its heartfelt thanks to the outgoing Vice-President for Digitalisation, Professor Dr Monika Gross, for her many years of commitment.
